Katy Asian Town and UMRE Real Estate Group joined hands to host the 2023 KAT LunarFest event, which took place from January 21 to February 5, and brought joy and celebration to the greater Houston community. The event was a huge success and featured a variety of traditional Lunar New Year activities that attracted residents from all over Houston.
Dragon and Lion Dance Show
The LunarFest event kicked off with a must-see dragon and lion dance show performed by the professional team of Lee’s Golden Dragon. The performance brought good luck and fortune for the upcoming year, and it was watched by many people in front of H-Mart on January 21 and 22, and in front of UMRE office on January 28. The show was a highlight of the event and added to the festive atmosphere of Katy Asian Town.
Traditional Chinese Crafts Activities
The LunarFest event also featured traditional Chinese crafts activities that allowed visitors to experience Lunar New Year customs and take home the craft they created. The activities included writing spring couplets, making Lunar Festival lanterns, paper-cut art, Chinese knotting, embroidery, and flower arrangement. Participants who completed their crafts had the opportunity to see their completed New Year Lantern displayed in the exhibition hall throughout the lunar new year, and they also took a group photo with the lanterns they made on Lantern Festival Day. The activities were held at Katy Asian Town A6 (AMA Kitchen) on January 28-29 and February 4-5, and limited spots were available, so advance registration was required.
Katy Asian Town LunarFest Fair
The LunarFest event also included the Katy Asian Town LunarFest Fair, where visitors had the chance to win a New Year’s Gift by collecting invoices from two or more stores or by spending $100 or more at any Katy Asian Town store. The gifts were randomly distributed to lucky winners during the event hours, which were held on January 28-29 and February 4-5 at Katy Asian Town A6 (AMA Kitchen).
